If you have an iPhone, iPad, or iPod, you can connect it to your Mac mini to synchronize music, videos, and information such as appointments and addresses.
Sync iPad with your computer
You can use iCloud to automatically keep your photos, files, calendar, and more updated across all your devices where you’re signed in with your Apple ID. If you don’t want to use iCloud or other services, you can connect iPad to your Mac or Windows PC to sync the following items: Albums, songs, playlists, movies, TV shows, podcasts, books, and audiobooks Note: If you use iCloud or other services like Apple Music, options for syncing with your computer might not be available.
Before disconnecting your iPad from your Mac, click the Eject button in the Finder sidebar. See Sync content between your Mac and iPhone or iPad in the macOS User Guide. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each type of content you want to include on your iPad, then click Apply. See Sync content between your Mac and iPhone or iPad over Wi-Fi in the macOS User Guide or Sync iTunes content on PC with devices on Wi-Fi in the iTunes User Guide for Windows.
Headless Mode with Mac Mini
The iPad Pro has such a large and beautiful display that it makes it perfect to use as the primary monitor. (32-bit devices are not supported) External mouse and keyboard connected to Mac mini are optimal for this setup in case of MacOS permissions and logins In just a short amount of time, you’ll be able to use an iPad as a primary monitor with Headless Mode. Note: An external monitor is required for the initial setup of Headless Mode, but is only needed the first time you configure your devices (unless FileVault is enabled). When setting up Headless Mode, we recommend connecting an external keyboard and mouse or trackpad to your Mac mini.

Click the “Apps” tab in iTunes and scroll down to the bottom of the page to the File Sharing section. Highlight the file you want to open and click the “Save To” button at the bottom right corner of the iTunes screen. Transfer documents to the iPad from the Mac Mini using the same File Sharing screen in iTunes.
Click the “Add” button and locate the document on your Mac Mini that you want to send to the iPad.
Mac Mini + iPad Mini = touchscreen Mac
Although the Portable Mac Mini that YouTuber Scott Yu-Jan created has a display you can angle and folds shut like a laptop, it has to be plugged in, and it doesn’t have a built-in physical keyboard. The tablet brings touch functionality to the Mac Mini via Duet Display, an app that basically turns iPads or iPhones into second screens.
In a video shared last week and spotted by Hackaday on Thursday, Yu-Jan called the Portable Mac Mini “the most controversial thing I ever made.” Since 3D printing seems to have made this miniature computer extra portable and has given it a touchscreen, Yu-Juan has apparently succeeded.
Using iPad as screen for mac mini?
Luna supports basic input via the touch screen of the iPad. Another thing to note, Luna Display isn’t compatible with the 4th generation iPad.
M1 Mac Mini with interactive iPad Mini display combined is one heck of a MacBook alternative
The DIYer, designer, and creator has made the Mac Mini really portable so that it would allow you to take your M1-powered workstation anywhere and use it conveniently as long as you can plug it into a socket. Yeah, the portability of this mod is limited to the indoors for now, until Scott thinks of adding additional bulk of a battery to his creation. The contraption comes complete with cable holders, a quick-release clasp (so that the two devices here can be used independently when you’re back home), and an Allen key (inconspicuously tucked away but usable for the quick tightening of screws as and when required).
I converted my iPad into a Mac, and now I love it
iPadOS has come a long way since the early iPads, introducing lots of multitasking features and gestures that make it a decent work device. Way back when MacOS Catalina was released, Apple tried to bring iPads and Macs closer together with Sidecar.
This lets you use your Mac’s keyboard on your iPad, and vice versa, and even share content between the completely different devices. Literally, anything, and in any room of my house, as long as the Wi-Fi is stable enough and the Bluetooth connection stays.
It feels awesome to use the Apple Pencil on drawing apps on Mac OS, where you get a full desktop-like experience, rather than a mobile-first layout. It packs a lot of space to multitask with, but it’s an older LCD monitor so things sometimes seem dull when editing videos on it.
Yet, when Apple released the iPad Pro 2021 model, it played up the benefits of Mini LED technology. Despite it being a remote session through Wi-Fi, the colors in videos are much more vibrant, the display gets better peak brightness.
I watched some nature videos, and I really couldn’t help but be blown away when I saw the details in the greens of trees, and the browns of rocks in a scene where a helicopter was flying over Switzerland. Even when typing this post, the whites of the WordPress UI looked a lot more vibrant against the black text of my paragraphs, and it is all thanks to my iPad Pro.
It wasn’t an issue for me, as my Mac Mini was connected on the first floor in an open space, and my home has pretty good Wi-Fi coverage. Sidecar doesn’t support this, so I resorted to using my AirPods connected to my Mac Mini to fill the gap.
With Luna Display, you can do some of these same things, if not more by using a dongle and installing a companion app on your Mac and iPad. At the very least, it shows that a merging of the iPad and the Mac in the future might not be as bad an idea as Apple has always insisted.
