Best iPad deals for October 2022

Just remember, iPads are always in high demand, so as a result they tend to sell out fast. That means the base 10.2-inch iPad can be in stock in the morning and sold out by the afternoon. As a result, we’re recommending you snatch up any iPad deals you see right now before models run out of stock.

Also, make sure to check out our guide to the best AirPods sales and MacBook deals. The 10.2-inch iPad features Apple’s A13 Bionic CPU, a new 12MP front camera, and 64GB of storage (instead of 32GB like its predecessor). You also get support for Center Stage, which uses machine learning to adjust the front-facing camera during FaceTime video calls.

The 2021 iPad mini features an all new thin-bezel design, a larger 8.3.inch Liquid Retina display, A15 Bionic CPU, 12MP wide camera, and USB-C connectivity. It’s a solid deal, but keep in mind that it’s been up to $100 off before, so if you can afford to wait — we recommend holding out for a lower price.

The tablet features a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display (2360 x 1640), 12MP wide (rear) camera, USB-C charging, and Magic Keyboard support. The 11-inch iPad Pro sports Apple’s M1 CPU for record-breaking speed and performance. It features a stunning 11-inch Liquid Retina display with 120Hz Pro Motion, TrueTone, and P3 wide color. Amazon has the 128GB model at its second-lowest price to date, which makes this one of the best iPad deals you’ll find for Apple’s pro tablet.

For a limited time, Amazon has the new iPad Pro 12.9-inch tablet on sale for $999. It features a stunning 12.9-inch Liquid Retina mini LED display (2732 x 2048) with 120Hz Pro Motion, TrueTone, and P3 wide color. It’s a modest price cut as far as iPad deals are concerned, but Amazon has the Apple Smart Keyboard on sale for $143. It’s got an outstanding feature set, with a built-in keyboard and trackpad and dedicated shortcut buttons.

While the A10 Fusion chip is indeed dated, it still packs enough power for streaming movies and playing some Apple Arcade. The 2021 iPad mini features an all new thin-bezel design, a larger 8.3.inch Liquid Retina display, A15 Bionic CPU, 12MP wide camera, and USB-C connectivity. Other retailers like Best Buy, B&H Photo, and Walmart tend to offer similar prices. So when looking for iPad deals at Amazon, it’s worth checking various colors for the lowest price.

However, if you don’t need M1 power, the previous iPad Air is usually up to $100 off, which is substantial savings. So it’s always worth checking older iPad models (when available) to save some extra cash.

iPad mini: Buyer’s Guide, Should You Buy?

The prior version of the iPad mini had thick bezels and a Touch ID Home button, but the new model does away with those in favor of an all-display design. The volume buttons are at the top to leave space for a magnetic connector at the side that’s used to charge the second-generation Apple Pencil. The iPad mini 6 comes in Space Gray, Pink, Purple, and Starlight, a color that’s a hybrid between silver and gold.

The USB-C port supports 5Gbps data transfer and is able to charge an iPhone or Apple Watch with the proper cable.

iPad Mini review: A compact, modern design and fast performance make a perfect balance of tablet power and portability

It’s easier to carry around due to its small size, and its screen is still larger than any phone I know about. Get honest reviews on top products & services — delivered weekly to your inbox.

That designation of “perfect” is subjective, to be sure — the iPad Mini and its 8.3-inch screen might be too small for some.

What’s objective, however, is that the iPad Mini still offers a bigger screen than any phone I know about, thus fulfilling its purpose as a tablet.

It’s also incredibly light and portable, making it the easiest tablet to carry around anywhere — much easier than the comparatively bulky and cumbersome 10.2-inch iPad. Again, the iPad Mini is also lightweight, and combined with its smaller overall size, it’s noticeably more portable than larger tablets.

It’s not the biggest deal — colors are only slightly bolder compared to the regular Retina display on the standard iPad. Still, I’ve been using the large iPhone 13 Pro Max with a 6.7-inch screen, and the iPad Mini still offers the larger display experience I seek from a tablet.

It’s fine for simpler productivity, like writing an email or a simple document, but larger screens are definitely more useful for more complex tasks, like research, especially with a more convenient keyboard cover. That higher refresh rate makes animations appear smoother, which gives off the impression that the device is faster and more powerful. It would have been nice if the 2021 iPad Mini came with ProMotion, but it’s fine that it doesn’t because of the display’s relatively small size, especially if the omission helps keep the cost down. As expected, benchmark scores using the Geekbench 5 app show the iPad Mini as having similar performance as the iPhone 13 series.

In our usual battery test where I continuously stream a YouTube video at the iPad Mini’s full brightness streaming at 1440p resolution, the 2021 iPad Mini lasted six hours and two minutes. Apple doesn’t make a keyboard case for the iPad Mini, and third-party options are pretty slim, possibly because a small keyboard that fits within the iPad Mini’s footprint is uncomfortable to type on.

Rather, you can connect a normal or compact Bluetooth keyboard to the iPad Mini for typing. Apart from its larger 10.9-inch display, the iPad Air’s main draw is its powerful, computer-grade M1 processor.

Due to its small size, it’s more useful as a tablet for video watching, gaming, and quick messaging than a true mobile productivity machine.

iPad Mini 2

It has a nearly identical design to its predecessor the first-generation iPad Mini, but features internal revisions such as the addition of the A7 system-on-a-chip and 2,048 x 1,536 resolution Retina Display. Apple released the second-generation iPad Mini in space gray and silver colors on November 12, 2013.

The second-generation iPad Mini was announced during a keynote at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on October 22, 2013. [9] Apple’s chief designer, Jony Ive, described the update of iOS 7’s new elements as “bringing order to complexity”, highlighting features such as refined typography, new icons, translucency, layering, physics, and gyroscope-driven parallaxing as some of the major changes to the design. The iPad mini can act as a hotspot with some carriers, sharing its Internet connection over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB, and also access the Apple App Store, a digital application distribution platform for iOS. The service allows users to browse and download applications from the iTunes Store that were developed with Xcode and the iOS SDK and were published through Apple.

The second-generation iPad Mini comes with several pre-installed applications, including Siri, Safari, Mail, Photos, Video, Music, iTunes, App Store, Maps, Notes, Calendar, Game Center, Photo Booth, and Contacts. The second-generation iPad Mini has an optional iBooks application, which displays books and other ePub-format content downloaded from the iBookstore. The audio playback of the second-generation iPad Mini is in stereo with two speakers located on either side of the lightning connector. Apple sells a “camera connection kit” with an SD card reader, but it can only be used to transfer photos and videos.

All second-generation iPad Mini models can connect to a wireless LAN and offer dual band Wi-Fi support. Apple’s ability to handle many different bands in one device allowed it to offer, for the first time, a single iPad variant which supports all the cellular bands and technologies deployed by all the major North American wireless providers at the time of the device’s introduction.

Beavis praises the Retina display and A7 chip’s performance, and states that its “design is still the best in the tablet category.” [22] On his website, AnandTech, Anand Lal Shimpi highly compliments the design and increased speed of the second-generation iPad Mini while lamenting the limited color palette, stating “…it’s a shame that this is a tradeoff that exists between the two iPads especially given how good Apple is about sRGB coverage in nearly all of its other displays.

“[23] Despite some criticisms, such as the quality of the camera, Jeffrey Van Camp of Digital Trends gave the second-generation iPad Mini a score of 4.5 out of 5. With a powerful 64-bit A7 processor and a high-resolution ‘Retina’ screen, it finishes the job that Apple started with the first iPad Mini.

Refurbished iPad 2022: Everything you need to know before buying a refurbished Apple tablet

If you’re after an Apple tablet this Christmas but forking out for a brand new one is out of the question, you’ll want to check out the extensive range of refurbished iPads available online. As long as you’re buying from a reputable source offering a warranty, a refurbished iPad will function exactly like its factory-fresh counterpart.

In this article, we’ll direct you to the most reliable sites with the best track record and fairest prices on refurbished iPads.

The site offers a huge range of certified refurbished technology, including games consoles, mobile phones and laptops, and its selection of iPads is particularly impressive.

With an average Trust Pilot score of 4.7/5 from over 175,000 reviews, it’s a site you can rely on and you’ll often find it has offers on some of its top refurbished tech. Amazon Renewed offers a wide range of refurbished iPads and there are some great savings to be had if you shop around a bit.

Products sold on the site have been inspected and tested by either Amazon itself or the marketplace seller and in both cases by a qualified manufacturer of specialist third-party refurbisher. Some items may come packaged in a generic box but rest assured, all accessories will be included unless stated on the specific product page.

Because Amazon hosts thousands of vendors, it’s worth bearing in mind that a shady seller or two may slip through the cracks despite its vetting process. Each iPad purchased through the Apple Refurbished store will also come with a one-year warranty; the same as a brand-new tablet, while many come with 90 days of complimentary technical support. eBay is never short of stock when it comes to secondhand tech, but as many of the sellers are individuals you’re bound to find plenty more used, non-refurbished iPads. Some have very good refurbished product programmes and their wares tend to be more reliable than someone selling a one-off iPad which they claim to be in ‘perfect’ order, despite the photo showing a cracked screen.

The iOutlet specialises in refurbishing secondhand phones and tablets and has a huge range of devices on offer in addition to an excellent Trust Pilot rating of 4.8. It’s worth sending out a group message or Facebook post into the ether to find out if anybody who you know (and, importantly, trust) is willing to sell you an old iPad that they no longer use. If you don’t much care for the bidding system, Gumtree is another website with a perpetual supply of secondhand Apple merchandise. As many of Gumtree’s sellers require you to meet in person, and since you can’t always be sure of a product’s origin, there are some basic consumer tips you should know, which we will expand on below.

Before buying from private secondhand sellers, there are a few things you should think about in order to A) not get ripped off and B) not break the law by purchasing stolen goods. If the seller refuses to log in to the iPad, wipe the data, and disconnect it from their personal iCloud account, then in all likelihood it’s probably because they don’t own it. Finally, and we’re sorry if this is a pretty obvious one, if you are meeting up with a private seller then you should always test the iPad to make sure it works before confirming payment. If you decide that even a refurbished iPad is a little outside your budget, you may want to head on over to our list of the best Android tablets, which features a number of great options under £150.

The best iPad mini deals for October 2022

We’ve pulled together the best and lowest prices from top retailers on the iPad Mini for this month, to help you save extra money on your new Apple device. However, they’re still impressive models and choosing an older iPad Mini is a great way to save extra money. As we said in our iPad mini (6th Gen) review (opens in new tab), the appeal in going for the smaller Apple tablet is that it’s portable yet powerful and enables you to do pretty much anything wherever you are. Below, we’ve rounded up the best deals on all generations of the iPad mini and we’ve thrown in a few offers on Apple accessories too, including the Magic Keyboard and Pencil. With a bigger 8.3-inch screen and ridiculously powerful Apple A15 processor inside, this is pocket powerhouse. Its new design makes it sleeker than ever, and it now supports the Apple Pencil 2nd Gen, which means the stylus connects magnetically to the side of the iPad and charges wirelessly while there, so it’s always ready to go for sketches or note-taking.

This makes it an even better tool for school or university, or for digital artists who want to create quickly on the go, or photographers looking for a way to view and edit photos right out of the camera. The screen is slightly brighter and adds the True Tone tech (which adjusts the color balance based on ambient lighting), which the iPad mini 4 doesn’t have.

The screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 is impressive given the more compact dimensions and the quality is very much welcome too – being able to use this fully in almost direct light again adds to the portability.

It was still a bit better than the iPad 2 and so these days it’s well worth picking up if you find that it falls into the correct price window. If you want to be more in control of your iPad Mini or you want a portable desk setup, look into Apple accessories for your tablet.
