The question of iPads vs Samsung tablets is relevant no matter what level you’re buying at. If you’re a creative professional – say an illustrator, animator, photographer, video editor or whatever else – then a top-end tablet can be a hugely useful tool. Both have been recently upgraded to use Apple’s in-house M1 processing chips, which provide super-fast performance. The iPad Pro 12.9 (left) and the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra (right) (Image credit: Future) However, Samsung has quite clearly devised its Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra to compete with the iPad Pros, and as such, it has a lot going for it. First, the S8 Ultra boasts an incredible 14.6-inch AMOLED display, which gives you considerably more real estate than the 12.9-inch screen on the iPad Pro.
The iPadOS remains a smoother operating experience – you can be sure when you boot up an app it’ll work correctly, and this is by no means a guarantee in the wild frontiers of Android. But if you want more and better screen real estate for less money, then the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra merits serious consideration. The cheapest iPad Air 2022 is priced at $599, which may seem pretty reasonable, but this is for a paltry 64GB with no easy way to expand the storage. There are loads of apps to choose from, and in many cases they are specifically optimised for tablet use, meaning they’ll look great on an iPad screen of any kind.
The iPad Air 2022 edition is a tempting tablet… but so is the Samsung Galaxy tab S8+ (Image credit: Future) With competitive price tags and styluses included, they offer serious value, and users at practically all levels should give them due consideration.
Artist Review : iPad Pro vs Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 for drawing
If you are an artist and looking for a multipurpose drawing tablet for making digital art, the Apple iPad Pro and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 are two great choices. As the new models arrived, the S4 has seen a huge drop in price, in spite of still having great features for today’s standards.
It comes with support for the most accurate stylus and has an impressive list of features consisting of everything that you would expect in a modern compact tablet. Generally speaking, AMOLED screens are known for their good contrasts and colors. But the real winner is the 12.9 inch iPad Pro which uses a mini-LED screen that has superior contrasts, color, and brightness. Unlike using a single backlight unit, the backlight on the 12.9 inch iPad Pro is made of a matrix of small LEDs that have a sustained brightness of 1000 nits and can go up to 1600 nits when viewing certain content. The 12.9 inch iPad Pro, on the other hand, takes a big lead and has a better screen than both the aforementioned tablets. Because of its higher refresh rate, drawing on the iPad Pro feels slightly smoother when compared to the Galaxy Tab S4. Comparing the two styluses you will find the Apple Pencil is slightly better in terms of features and build quality.
Comparing the dimensions – the Apple Pencil is slightly longer in length, and the Samsung S-Pen has a wider body. In general, Apple Pencil and the Samsung S Pen do the same task of drawing and writing stuff. The Apple Pencil charges wirelessly by magnetically sticking on one of the edges of the tablet.
In many tablets made for drawing purposes (like Wacom), the top glass layer have a matte finish. Both the Apple iPad Pro and the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 comes with a glossy surface.
Although glossy screens have better transparency, but they have a very distracting reflection and glare issues, which is not ideal. For iPads, you have apps like Procreate, Clip studio paint, Affinity photo.
Making digital art is a resource-intensive task, especially when you are working on a high-resolution project with multiple layers and complicated brushes and textures. On its own, it is sufficiently powerful enough to perform all of the above-mentioned tasks as well as handle multi-tasking workflow.

Even the 11-inch version with the lowest storage capacity comes with a hefty price tag. Now Samsung Galaxy tab s4 (Amazon) is cheaper than the iPad and has all the things you need (including s-pen) right in the box. Both the iPad as well as Samsung galaxy tab s4 comes with the latest USB type-c port. At the bottom of the Samsung Tab and the Apple iPad Pro, you will find a connection pin that snaps to the keyboard accessory.
From the comparison it is obvious that iPad Pro is a better tablet for drawing, but it also comes with a massive price tag. For most people, which includes hobyists, beginners and artist with intermediate level skills, the Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is a smarter choice. The iPad Pro is better suited for experts, professionals and real die hard hobbyists. Addition charges for more memory If you are willing to spend a little extra for getting superior hardware and stylus than Apple iPad Pro is the right choice.
Artist Review: Samsung Tab A 8.0 with S Pen (2019)
Second thing to know is the Tab A with S Pen, the model that I’m reviewing, is the one with better specifications all around except for the small battery capacity of 4200mAh vs 5100 mAH of the Tab A non-S Pen model. Third thing to know is the Tab A with S Pen has a much better display with higher resolution, better colours and viewing angles. The Samsung Tab A 8.0 with S Pen is the budget tablet to consider if you want an affordable digital sketchpad. The display is a 8-inch IPS panel with good colours and viewing angles.
This display is capable of playing 1080P videos with small black bars at top and bottom. The combination of resolution and screen size makes everything appears sharp. The body is made of plastic with a nice matte surface texture. It’s just 325g so you can hold this for long periods of time without discomfort or hand strain.
There’s only one speaker at the bottom and audio quality is good for a budget tablet. The charging port is USB-C and file transfer speeds is USB 2.
Storage speed is alright, as in opening apps, searching settings may be slower. This S Pen is really designed for clicking on stuff on the screen, and then store away into that bottom slot.
Alternatives included Staedtler Noris Digital but replacement tips may not be easily available, or get the S Pen from Tab S3, S4, S6, S6 Lite where you can find cheap replacement tips easily. There is no significant wobble or jitter when drawing diagonal lines slowly.
The display is laminated so the lines look like they are appearing directly beneath the pen tip. There is some input lag as usual so the line will try to catch up with the pen tip or cursor. With my normal drawing speed, I don’t find that input lag to be a big issue. Initial activation force for all the pens are low, as in you can press lightly to get a line. Other drawing apps you can try on Android are Infinite Painter, Medibang Paint, IbisPaint X, Krita. iPad Mini 6 vs Samsung Tab S7: Why This Comparison?
For the time being, I’ve been using both tablets to access social media, play games, watch movies, and browse the web. Both are made of machined aluminium, both have a very solid feel to them, both have squared off edges, rotted corners, and small bezels all the way around. A USB-C port is available on both tablets for charging and syncing with external devices. You may not be aware, but if you are, it makes the UI appear smoother, and it can also be beneficial for games that support higher FPS settings.
The Tab S7’s screen is more reflective than the iPad Mini 6’s, which presents an opportunity for improvement. For this reason, if you plan to use it outdoors or in a place where bright lights are present, the reflections may be more noticeable.
The S Pen on the Tab S7 is Bluetooth enabled, whereas the Apple Pencil for the iPad Mini 6 costs an additional $130. But I love the fact that Samsung includes this accessory because I believe that more people will find ways to use it and improve their experience.
In terms of feel, the second-generation Apple Pencil offers a firmer writing experience, with a louder and more pronounced contact with the display.
As a result, the decision is ultimately up to you based on your own personal preferences and the specific circumstances of your situation. The second-generation Apple Pencil is charged and stored on the side of the iPad Mini 6 when it is not in use. Magnetic strip on the back of the Tab S7 is where the S Pen is stored and charged.
I’ll keep this short and say that both devices are capable of making video calls, but the iPad Mini 6 wins in terms of image quality. The iPad Mini 6 does sound good, but if I compare it to the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7, it’s a no-brainer.
Because of this, you should have no problem finding applications for both tablets, including those for photo and video editing. The Tab S7 has a larger display with higher resolution, two forms of biometric authentication.
It comes with an S Pen, has better keyboard case options because of the larger form factor.
