How to Protect Your iPad Screen From Apple Pencil Damage
That said, there could be times when you notice damage or scratches on your iPad screen and you’ll wonder if your Apple Pencil is to blame. Luckily, with proper care and maintenance of your iPad and Apple Pencil, scratches and damages should be few and far between, if not unthinkable to begin with.
If your Apple Pencil tip is worn down, it could end up rubbing your iPad screen the wrong way. A worn down Apple Pencil tip might look jagged, with uneven pieces of rubber sticking out or hanging off. When I first started drawing on my iPad, it felt weird to slide my Apple Pencil around a slippery screen. This gives you a little more friction as you move your Apple Pencil along your screen, and prevents all of the slipping and sliding. There is something you should be aware of with these amazing screen protectors though; they tend to eat Apple Pencil tips for breakfast. I’ve written an entire post on how matte screen protectors can impact Apple Pencils that you should check out if you’re interested in getting one.
Alright, to round out this post, let’s talk about the final hazard that you can run into when using your Apple Pencil: debris and dirt. It’s really important to make sure that your iPad screen is clean and free of any debris or dirt while you’re working, regardless of where you are. Luckily, with the right tools and a little intentionality, you’ll be ready to protect your iPad from any harm that could come it’s way from your Apple Pencil. How to fix an unresponsive Apple Pencil – Astropad
If your Apple Pencil is unresponsive, there are three ways to get it working properly with your iPad again: If you charge your Apple Pencil battery and it is still unresponsive, you may need to reestablish a connection with your iPad. Check to make sure your Apple Pencil’s nib is securely tightened. If the previous methods don’t work, you will likely need to charge your Pencil and force it to re-pair with the iPad: Re-pair your Apple Pencil to your iPad by plugging it into the device with Bluetooth enabled, and following the pairing dialog that appears. Ditch the slip: On its own, the iPad’s glass screen is a slippery surface that creates an inconsistent drag on your Apple Pencil.
Apple Pencil has Scratched side of new iPad Air 4!
I have been so, so careful with my device and now I have these scratches just form charging my Apple Pencil 2! However I don’t feel I should need this as they should just replace my pencil and iPad as it’s totally unacceptable for such a new and expensive device to already have this issue.

Review: ‘Apple Pencil 2’ is a huge step forward but still not perfect
Instead of the glossy finish that was prone to scratches and could feel a little slippery in the hand, the new model has a matte finish. One side of the Apple Pencil is completely flat, which — if placed correctly — will stop it from rolling away. Unfortunately, this surface is still very shallow so if it starts rolling from being placed on another side, it won’t likely stop it from escaping over the edge of your desk.
This flat surface can be custom engraved at checkout, a nice perk when ordering directly from Apple.Because of the redesigned charging method, no longer is there a cap on the end of the Pencil.
This reduces the need to head to the toolbar every time you switch between instruments.Third-party devs also get invited to play by including their own uses for this in their apps.
Popular apps such as Affinity Photo have already added support for Apple Pencil 2 and more will continue to do so.Right now, this still feels a bit limiting, similar to AirPods own tap gestures. During the editing process, the small and exact tip makes it an ideal instrument for working in Lightroom, Affinity Photo, or Pixelmator.Working with the new Pencil has made a big difference to my workflow.
The metal sides of the iPad that make contact with the Pencil — on either side of the plastic plate — show small wear marks that likely will increase with use.The rounded end of the Pencil, which is actually a separate piece of plastic, also has the ability to stain. The white plastic just shouldn’t absorb color so easily. We’ve also dropped the Apple Pencil far more frequently than the original.
We can’t count the number of times we’ve picked up our iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil attached and walked around to have it accidentally knocked free. This increased likelihood of drops makes us even more frustrated at the lack of replacement tips.Apple Pencil is a unique accessory.
