Apple Ipad Mini 5 Weight

It shares a similar design to the iPad Mini 4 and features the Apple A12 Bionic chip, 64 or 256GB storage, a more modernly upgraded 7.9-inch Retina Display with support for Apple Pencil (1st Generation), True Tone display and Bluetooth 5.0. iFixit’s teardown shows this iPad Mini is equipped with an upgraded 3GB of LPDDR4X RAM, the same as the iPhone XR. It has a True Tone display, which allows the LCD to adapt to ambient lighting to change its color and intensity in different environments. The Apple A12 Bionic chip powering the iPad Mini (2019) has a 66% higher clock speed than its predecessor, which had a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor; (the Apple A8 in the previous generation was clocked higher than in the iPhone 6).

The Verge rated the Mini 5 as a 8.5 out of 10, praising that it has the same specs as the larger iPad Air and had solid performance while noting that it had a “seven-year-old exterior design with huge bezels” and uses a Lightning port instead of USB-C.[9]

Apple iPad mini (2019)

3 GB RAM Apple A12 Bionic We can not guarantee that the information on this page is 100% correct.

Here’s how the new iPad mini compares to the iPad mini 5 and iPad Air

After a two and a half year wait since the last update, a totally redesigned iPad mini has officially arrived alongside the iPhone 13. In an exciting move, Apple brought the iPad mini into the future with its 6th gen version taking on most of the great improvements we’ve seen arrive in the modern iPad Pro and Air devices. The 6-core CPU delivers a 40 percent jump in performance, and the 5-core GPU delivers an 80 percent leap in graphics performance compared to the previous generation of iPad mini. But otherwise, you’re getting an impressive Liquid Retina display that’s the largest ever on the iPad mini.

Another big update is the move from Lightning to USB-C. That opens up the ability to use the range of USB-C hubs and accessories out there, external drives, and more. Other I/O improvements include Wi-Fi 6, Apple Pencil gen 2 support, 5G, and Touch ID now residing in the top button. Interesting colors this time around with starlight replacing silver and pink and purple joining space gray. Even though you’ve got a more expensive starting price at $499, you’re really getting a lot for the money here with the all-new display and design, USB-C, A15 chip, 5G option, upgraded cameras including Center Stage auto-tracking, and much more.

Orders are open now with the first devices arriving to customers from the week of September 20.

AppleInsider is supported by its audience and may earn commission as an Amazon Associate and affiliate partner on qualifying purchases. Apple announced the updated iPad mini 5 via press release in March 2019.

While its predecessor shares a nearly identical design, its renewed features and chipset revamped its use case. This iPad mini has a 500 nit display supporting the P3 color gamut and True Tone.

The Retina Display is still amazing for viewing text and photos, even in bright light, although direct sunlight will still prove to be a problem. Apple included its (at the time) newest iPhone chipset in the iPad mini 5. The chip includes 3 GB of RAM, making it a capable device for on-the-go gaming or light image editing. The A12 Bionic handles modern iPad games with ease while rendering AR content despite its older hardware.

How Big Is the iPad Mini and How Much Does It Weigh?

The iPad Mini is Apple’s answer to 7-inch Android tablets such as the Amazon Kindle Fire and Google Nexus, but its 7.9-inch display makes it slightly larger. Apple’s latest version of the iPad Mini 5 features a 7.9‑inch Retina display with True Tone. It’s a portable tablet you can use comfortably with one hand, resting the iPad Mini in your palm and looping your thumb around the side.

This means displays are slightly clearer when viewed at the same distance, although at these high screen resolutions, you have to concentrate to discern any difference.

It doesn’t have the near-field communications (NFC) required to pay at stores, but Touch ID has a number of great uses beyond as a payment switch.
