Beside that, the cover is really nice; with a plastic feel that give you confidence that it will stand quite a lot of beating. The hinge is super stiff; which is great; also it stay closed very well, and looks like a mini netbook from past age.
Also due to the hinge design, access to the bottom part of the device is severely compromised; and takes efforts to get your fingers there, unless you have small hands.
If you are a very rough person; avoid this cover; because it require you to use care and be gentle when opening and closing it.

Zagg Pro Keys wraps a range of iPad models in a very protective case, and includes a removable keyboard that makes the tablet even more productive. Connect a keyboard and it becomes a laptop ready for light duty: email, web, video, etc. Zagg Pro Keys can be just what you need for this, especially as you can easily remove the keyboard while still using the tablet in its protective case. Zagg Pro Keys folds up like a clamshell, but when open it uses a kickstand instead of hinges.
I’m testing the version for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the removable keyboard weighs 1.4 pounds. The material Zagg chose for the Pro Keys’ exterior is a sort of artificial suede in a dark gray color.
Perhaps the important detail to know about the Pro Keys is that Zagg promises 6.6 feet of drop protection. Even without the clip-on keyboard to protect the display, the case covers the back and sides of the iPad. An Apple Pencil slot sits on one edge, and the stylus is held in place by the flap that holds the Pro Keys closed. I do a lot of writing and need my iPad Mini 4 for my work to function as a mini-laptop. This item not only protects the iPad but turns it into a mini-computer. Zagg, however, stood by its product, found my registration, and sent out a new one, postage free. That’s a small inconvenience compared to how I use the folio for typing, which is during the daytime or with a lamp on.

I’m always looking for ways to do my job on the go while using the least amount of space in my bag, and that’s why I love the Zagg Folio wireless keyboard case for the fifth-generation iPad mini. I’ve found myself wishing Zagg would have leaned into that and made differently colored cases that match the seven hues used for the keyboard backlighting, but nah, we’re stuck with the workaday black fabric and plastic defines Zagg’s cases as of late.
It’s tough enough to endure the pain I put my stuff through on my footbound commute, and the keyboard—though small—offers much of the satisfaction I’d expect from a proper laptop. The Folio’s sturdiness makes up for its rather plain design, and I know from experience that both the iPad and the keyboard can survive tumbles off a counter and onto a tile floor (so long as the case is closed, anyway). Dropping it shouldn’t happen all that often, though, thanks to the grippy textured material enveloping almost the entire exterior. Technically, through, Zagg’s keyboard isn’t as structurally sound because the openings beneath the keys might let crumbs and other particles get stuck underneath.
That limitation, though, reminds me that Apple didn’t really intend for us to use the iPad mini like a “laptop.” It’s best used like a Kindle—for digital reading and late-night internet surfing—and it’s annoying to use it this way when the tablet remains ensconced in its case, hampered by a hinge that only bends back so far. I’ve already taken to leaving my MacBook behind after a few days of using Zagg’s new cases, and I like how it takes up no more room in my bag than a standard paperback book.
