Ipad Air 2 Quelle Generation

The iPad Air 2 originally shipped with iOS 8 pre-installed and includes a version of Apple Pay with the in-store NFC functionality removed. iOS 8 comes with several built-in applications, which are Camera, Photos, Messages, FaceTime, Mail, Music, Safari, Maps, Siri, Calendar, iTunes Store, App Store, Notes, Contacts, iBooks, Home, Reminders, Clock, Videos, News, Photo Booth and Podcasts. Additional apps made by Apple itself are available for free download, which are iMovie, GarageBand, iTunes U, Find My iPhone, Find My Friends, Apple Store, Trailers, Remote, and the iWork apps (Pages, Keynote, and Numbers).

[8] Like all iOS devices, the iPad Air 2 can also sync content and other data with a Mac or PC using iTunes.

Although the tablet is not designed to make phone calls over a cellular network, it can place and receive phone calls through an iPhone’s cellular connection, using Apple’s Continuity feature[9] (supported on iOS 8 and later versions of iOS, and OS X Yosemite and later versions of macOS), or using a VoIP application, such as Skype. On June 8, 2015, it was announced at the WWDC that the iPad Air 2 would support all of iOS 9’s new features when it is released in Q3 2015. Apart from this, most of the features that were introduced in iPadOS will work with this iPad, including support for external USB drives (using the camera connection kits), the redesigned split screen and multitasking interface (with support for two apps to be open at once) and support for Haptic Touch (no haptic feedback will be felt as the iPad family don’t have Taptic Engines). On June 6, 2022 after iPadOS 16 was announced at the WWDC 2022, it was revealed that the iPad Air 2 will not be compatible with this new version of the operating system. [14] It also uses the Apple M8 motion co-processor which has a barometer and is the first generation of the iPad to inherit the fingerprint Touch ID sensor from the iPhone.

The front-facing FaceTime HD camera has also been improved with a larger ƒ/2.2 aperture, which allows 81% more light in the image.

Unlike its iPad predecessors, the mute/orientation lock switch has been removed to accommodate the reduced depth. Apple has released a “camera connection kit” with an SD card reader, but it can only be used to transfer photos and videos to an iPad.

The Verge called the Air 2 “the best tablet ever made”, giving it a score of 9.3 out of 10 while noting that it offered only “iterative improvement” and that there were “missed opportunities” in its design.

What Ipads are the same size as the iPad Air 2?

This tablet is thinner and faster than its predecessor, the iPad Air, although the design, height and screen size are the same as the iPad Air. The iPad Air 2 features Touch ID.

The specs of the tablet remain largely the same as that of the Air 2, but with the old A8X chip replaced with the 64-bit A9, first seen in the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus. But that means the iPad Air 2 will have been supported by software updates for 6 years and 11 months. It’s because the devices are almost identical in size, although the iPad Air 4 is slightly thicker.

Short of having a very tight-fitting case, you shouldn’t have compatibility issues. But that means the iPad Air 2 will have been supported by software updates for 6 years and 11 months.

Overall, the iPad Air nets you a larger display in a lighter, thinner frame.

iPad 2017 vs iPad Air 2

While much of its technology feels out of date, however, one key spec, the processor, does not, and the A9 chip helped the iPad 2017 to produce consistently decent results in our benchmarking tests – not Pro-fast, but considerably faster than the Air 2. And that 8,827 mAh unit gave it impressive scores in our battery tests. That lovely big battery, of course, is the most likely reason for the iPad’s weight gain.

Then again, by iPad standards the new model really is cheap – £339 feels like a bit of a bargain. If you’ve got an Air 2 and have been putting off an upgrade, this might be the model to convince you: you’ll get a better battery and processor, and longer-term iOS updates to look forward to. Just make sure you try out the screen before laying down any cash, because we’re not keen on the way it feels, and it’s without doubt a step back from the one you’ll be used to.

Near the end of March 2017, and with no fanfare at all, Apple announced the launch of its newest iPad. In this article we compare Apple’s 2014 and 2017 iPads, and help you decide whether the spec bumps, design changes and new features are enough to justify the price.

The iPad 2017 has the same chassis design we’ve grown accustomed to from Apple’s tablets over the past four years.

It doesn’t get the True Tone display, Smart Connector and camera flash introduced with the iPad Pro 9.7in. You have to go back to 2013’s iPad Air 1, in fact, to find a model with the same dimensions. And sure enough, the more compressed design of the Air 2 – in which the elements of the display have been by necessity squeezed closer together, and air pockets removed – results in a screen that is firmer to the touch.”

The iPad 2017, for reasons known only to Apple, has an unlaminated screen with an air gap under the display. You’ll find that it yields the tiniest fraction when you press down: not much by any means, but enough to notice. It’s still a decent screen – bright, sharp and colourful – but we wish it was laminated. It has Touch ID and Apple Pay, and 4G internet connectivity; the usual stuff.

It also doesn’t get the Retina Flash and True Tone camera features of the iPad Pro, something which will turn up again in the specs section. iPad Air 2: A8X chip with 64?bit architecture; M8 motion coprocessor

On paper this ought to be only slightly slower than the A9X in the high-end Pro models and significantly faster than the A8X in the Air 2. 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit Multi-Touch display with IPS technology 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit Multi-Touch display with IPS technology

Apple claims the iPad 2017 has a 10-hour battery life when using Wi-Fi and 9 hours when browsing over a cellular connection. These are standard figures that the company gives for all of its current tablets, but we were hopeful that it might prove a conservative estimate; after all, the device’s battery has an impressive (for Apple) capacity of 8,827 mAh. Here’s how things turned out in practice – or in the GeekBench 3 battery test, at any rate.
