Ls31 Wireless Gaming Headset Review

This means it’s essentially a volume dial for your games, Spotify/music apps, video players, or any sound coming from your browser. For the buttons, one tap on the left ear cup mutes the headphones completely, game and chat audio. A single tap on the right ear cup is to mute/unmute the microphone, while a three-second hold is for mic monitoring.

LucidSound LS31 wireless headset review: Excellent gaming audio for around $100

Gone are the firmware issues and software problems of the previous lineup; all we have now are supremely polished, great-sounding, and highly-comfortable products. The new LS31 continues the trend, with a sleek, professional gray design, light, but robust construction, and great audio. Using Dolby Atmos, the LS31 performed well in go-to multiplayer titles like Battlefield V and Call of Duty, creating an immersive sound stage with little distortion.

While there are wired headsets in this price range that perform a little better in terms of sound quality, you won’t get the wireless signal thrown in. Speaking of which, rather than enlist Bluetooth or Xbox Wireless for the LS31, LucidSound is leveraging its own channel-hopping 2.5GHz USB dongle for the LS31, and we found it to be rock solid even in extremely congested 2.5GHz conditions. It had an opportunity to offer similar functionality to that of the Astro MixAmp, which allows users to feed Xbox audio in using the optical cable, while using the USB connectivity for voice chat.

Additionally, it requires an extra cable to utilize voice chat on Xbox One, which defeats the point of it being wireless, to some degree. The bass boost introduces distortion into the mix in my experience, which simply doesn’t sound good in either games or music.

It’d be nice to gain the ability to control how loud the sidetone is without lobbying for a firmware update, and the EQ boosting features feel a little redundant.

Overall, though, if you want something in this price range that can function across Xbox, PC, and PlayStation 4, this is a great product that won’t disappoint.

LucidSound LS31 Wireless gaming headset audio quality, price, mic, and full specs review

The LucidSound LS31 Wireless suffers in terms of outside noise isolation and is not convenient for travel and commution in loud environments.

LucidSound LS31 Headset Review

While the LS25 was almost too bold, the LS31 is remarkably unassuming for a pair of big cans, and you could probably wear them beyond the confines of your home with little more than an admiring glance from passers-by. There’s the obvious sense of deja vu – this is the third LucidSound headset I’ve tested – but it’s nice to see the design tie all of their products together.

The biggest difference from the LS25 is that the LS31 is 60g heavier, presumably due to the wireless tech and battery contained within, and that puts it on a more or less even pegging with Astro’s Generation 3 A50.

Once again, LucidSound offer a remarkably assured approach to headset design, and most of the controls are housed within the shiny branded dials on each earpiece.

Any modern gaming headset needs a microphone, and the LS31 doubles up on them in order to give you some excellent mic monitoring and noise reduction. In the £100-150 price bracket – currently available for around £130 via Amazon – the LS31 gives you substance to match its style, pipping plenty of its main competitors to the punch for wireless connectivity in this range.

LucidSound LS31 Wireless Gaming Headset Review

Our site last reviewed LucidSound’s LS30 Wireless Gaming Headset two years ago. This meant sliding it into a USB port on an already crowded PC or console required a bit of restructuring.

The weight of the earcups or the tightness of the headband can begin to grate on your ability to enjoy your gaming. The updated headset keeps its three-preset equalizer that allows you to empahsize bass or high-end with a push of a button.

Each earcup pushes out deep bass and clear highs from a 50mm speaker with Neodymium magnets. Plug in for more direct audio—as LS puts it, “intense online gameplay”—or use it without the boom and still send really decent audio.

Those moments feel like the dark ages after experiencing a wireless headset. Thankfully, if you’ve forgotten to remove the headset before a trip to the bathroom, you’re in luck. Press the right earcup and you’ll have a reassuring LED light on the mic letting you know that no one can hear your shame.

Most gaming devices feature a grungy distressed paint, hyper colors, and seizure-inducing LEDs.

Set Discord up to use the LucidSound Chat audio and the rest of your machine to use the Game channel. Many gaming headsets feature independent volume controls, but LucidSound makes it intuitive.
