Bluetooth speakers come in various shapes and sizes and some of them are also waterproof so you can use them around a swimming pool or in your bathroom. Zaap Technologies, an Indian brand, has launched a couple of Bluetooth speakers in the market. It seems that the body of the Zaap Aqua has a layer of rubber on it, and it looks like the device might be able to take a tumble without getting damaged. This flap can be a bit tricky to open but does a good job of protecting the ports from water.
Zaap provides a tiny carabiner in the box which makes it easy to clip this speaker onto a backpack. We found the suction cup to be strong enough to keep the speaker mounted to a glass or tiled surface.
The Zaap Aqua offers strong mids and has decent highs at moderate volume, but clearly misses out on bass. The single driver isn’t capable of reproducing low frequencies and does not offer any thump.
Listening to On My Way by Alan Walker, the speaker played vocals clearly but it lacked bass.
Listening to Naina Da Kya Kasoor from Andhadhun, this little speaker handled the piano well, and Amit Trivedi’s voice stood out thanks to the strong mids. We did not see any bubbles coming out of the device, indicating a tight seal, and the ports were still dry when we pulled the flap back after taking it out. The speaker sounded a little muffled for a little while after that test, but after playing a few songs, it was able to pump the water out.
The Zaap Aqua is a tiny rugged speaker that boasts of an IP67 rating and decent audio quality at a very affordable price.
Zaap Aqua Darkstar Bluetooth speaker review: The matte black beauty
Zaap is a relatively unknown brand which makes accessories like Bluetooth speakers, Selfie Sticks, Power Banks, Air Purifiers and headphones etc. In my case, I used the speaker mostly at my work desk for listening to music or while watching movies and could barely turn the volume to the loudest, ever.
For connectivity option, it has a 3.5mm audio port apart from Bluetooth 4.0 and can pair easily with any Android or an iOS device. Both the connectivity options worked great and the Bluetooth range on offer was 10 meters easily, though if there are any obstacles in between, the audio output starts getting impacted.
Zaap Aqua Darkstar Bluetooth speaker review – Verdict At a price point of Rs. While I’m very impressed with the overall performance, it just falls short from being the perfect Bluetooth speaker in this range as it lacks important features like the stereo pairing mode and doesn’t support Gooogle Assistant or SIRI

The volume is also great for such a small speaker, but the sound quality can suffer if the song is already loud or has heavy bass, so …
ZAAP Aqua Pro rugged Bluetooth speaker Review: Your affordable music companion
ZAAP is a relatively new brand to enter the Indian audio market, earlier it used to deal in various kinds of smartphone accessories ranging from power banks to car mounts. I wanted to test out a good rugged Bluetooth speaker during one of my trips and the company was kind enough to send its ZAAP Aqua Pro for review.
Overall, in terms of build, I would state that the ZAAP Aqua Pro sports a compact construction, while at the same time having a powerful body.
The one place, where I thought that the ZAAP Aqua Pro could perform better was while playing hard rock or metal songs, where the bass was getting distorted, due to the intense beats coming from a beatbox rather than a pair of drums.
ZAAP Aqua Pro is a speaker that can be your music companion in most settings from a quiet room to a small pool party.
