This new version, which comes in many color options and costs $40, has been bulked up a bit — it weighs 184g — and has its corners rounded off. While the speaker is a little heavier, it’s very similar in size to the original and is designed for maximum portability.
It takes up little room in a backpack, laptop bag or purse, and will even fit in a lot of pockets. Even so, as you might expect, this speaker overall is short on bass and won’t exactly rock a room, even a small one.
Bose’s more expensive SoundLink Micro plays bigger and sounds substantially better, but it costs 2.5 times as much. It should cost closer to $30 or about £22 or AU$40 converted (you can find the original Go for close to $25), but I’m not going to knock it too hard for that.

So, how does the new Go 2 measure up for sound quality, durability and value for money in a market burgeoning with fresh, ever-more compact contenders? There are 12 colours in the range, and though our review sample is officially called yellow, that does it a disservice – it is retro-fabulously pearlescent.
The supplied USB charger is a somewhat uncoordinated bright orange colour, but considering the price, this is a small issue. We can hear the difference between Hozier’s more distant, belted vocals and when he approaches the mic to explore his upper register. Given the Go 2’s size, the bass punch is obviously limited, but the result is a cohesive and surprisingly broad mix. The top end is slightly more exposed and obvious, but it discriminates between notes with greater clarity and offers superior detail. But putting the lengthy charging time and short battery life to one side, JBL’s latest offering is a worthy holiday accessory.

Considering its size, audio performance is good … even if the bass response can’t keep up with the clean-sounding mids and highs.
On the right of the speaker is a rubber door that hides the microUSB charging port and 3.5mm aux jack for legacy devices. We found that 50% volume is comfortable for listening to music and pushing it to over 75% really offers a surprisingly full sound for such a small speaker.
If you crank it higher, expect closer to 4, which is quite short in comparison to other portable speakers, but that’s the trade off JBL made by choosing such a small form factor for the GO 2. It’s hamstrung by its physical size limits, sonic abilities and battery life but we were still impressed with how loud the speaker got.

JBL GO 2 review
Je kan de JBL GO 2 dus zonder problemen onderwater houden. Het bluetooth bereik is net als bij de andere JBL speakers ongeveer 10 meter. In onze test hebben we dit uiteraard getest en tien meter is ook echt het maximum, ga je verder dan valt de verbinding weg en gaat de muziek kraken. Met deze knop kan je naast het pauzeren van een nummer ook het volgende nummer opzetten als je twee keer op de knop drukt.
Dit is als je de speaker op een gemiddeld volume gebruikt. We hebben de speaker zonder problemen gedurende een hele middag aan gehad. en een frequentiebereik van 180 Hz – 20 kHz heeft deze speaker dezelfde specificaties als zijn voorganger. Zo heeft de JBL GO 2 kleine pootjes onderop, we merken bij het afspelen op een hoger volume niveau dat er daardoor minder snel trillingen ontstaan. Uiteraard is dit geen speaker die je gaat gebruiken voor binnenshuis muziek te luisteren.
Verwacht geen diepe bastonen, maar wel een mooie upgrade van je normale smartphone geluid zonder dat je een zware en grote speaker mee hoeft te nemen.
De JBL GO 2 past namelijk zonder problemen in je jas- of broekzak. Met de ingebouwde microfoon is het mogelijk om handsfree te bellen.
Het zit erop, maar de vraag is hoe vaak je deze functie zal gebruiken. JBL staat er om bekend dat ze hun speakers regelmatig van een update voorzien en verbeteringen doorvoeren.
Het geluid is licht verbeterd, we merken iets minder kraak op een hoger volume, maar verwacht geen mega prestaties van deze mini-speaker.

De vrolijke speaker is niet langer het saaie, zwarte kastje en klinkt indrukwekkend voor haar kleine formaat. Hier laat JBL echt een stuk expertise in vormgeving en materiaalgebruik zien. Let wel, bij vocals als die van Snelle in lippenstift voel je de speaker wel een tikje moeite hebben om de vocals echt strak neer te zetten. Maar heb je tracks met meer achtergrondgeluid, valt het eigenlijk niet op.
Dit lijkt dezelfde opstelling als in de originele JBL Go te zijn. Dit verklaart waarom het volume niet zo zeer beter is, maar wel helderder. Voor nood is het dus een prima speakerphone, maar dan prefereer ik stiekem toch de speakerfunctie van mijn Huawei P30 Pro. De DAC en driver zijn dus bepalend voor wat we horen. Het is dus niet mogelijk meerdere speaker met elkaar te koppelen. Dit valt meteen op bij het klepje aan de zijkant. Het opladen duurt iets meer dan twee uurtjes, maar is afhankelijk van de lader die je gebruikt.

Selama menggunakan dan menguji speaker JBL Go 2 ini, tim Laptophia tidak menemui kendala kompatibilitas.
