Bluetooth Ceiling Speakers How To Install

Most of the systems we sell here at K&B Audio are either plug & play, or require very basic wiring that any competent DIYer or electrician can install with ease. Your amplifier would be sited away from the speakers, such as in a nearby cupboard, above the ceiling or mounted in a wall box.

If you’re going to pre-wire your home prior to deciding on a ceiling speaker system then we’d recommend allowing for both options.

The only thing to bare in mind is that the Systemline E Series wire in a bespoke way, so if you are considering an E Series you should really make the decision and order the kit at first fix stage as you’ll need the pre-made power cable to run inside the walls before they are closed up.

With larger multiroom audio systems you will always wire them in the same way, however you might decide to mount all the amplifiers in a central location such as under the stairs or in an AV rack depending on the size of your project. All in all, ceiling speakers are quite easy to install and wire for but don’t forget that our expert team is on hand to answer your questions and offer advice.

Bluetooth Ceiling Speakers Wireless

This electromagnet interacts with a permanent, or ‘natural’, magnet on the back of the speaker’s fixed housing, repelling and attracting it. This process of repelling and attracting causes the flexible cone to oscillate back and forth, which pushes air. The sensitive, subtle movements of the cone push air in such a way as perfectly recreates the audio that was initially recorded into the impossibly detailed electric signal being passed through the voice coil as current. The fibreglass cone of this Bluetooth speaker is driven by oscillations caused by the interaction of its permanent and electromagnets.

Some models though, like Lithe Audio’s Bluetooth ceiling speakers, will have an amplifier built into the unit, saving consumers the cost of purchasing a separate amp. This means saying goodbye to the lag you typically get between seeing the video stream of your favourite TV show and hearing the associated audio through your Bluetooth speaker.

By contrast, users must connect to a Bluetooth ceiling speaker deliberately when they wish to control media playback. They’ll pay a small premium for the added protection, but businesses will be able to have wireless Bluetooth ceiling speakers fitted in the restaurant kitchen for a boost in staff morale, in a health spa massage room for customer-controlled ambience, or in every hotel room for guests to enjoy as a surprise premium-perk at check-in.

Bluetooth ceiling speakers can be a great addition to homes and to businesses where it’s preferable that the customer or client has control over audio playback.

Easy to install and even to retrofit, Lithe Audio Bluetooth ceiling speakers provide superb sound quality at excellent prices and come highly recommended.

How To Install a Ceiling Speaker – Lithe Audio

Lithe audio is a relative newcomer to the in-ceiling speaker space, but is fast becoming a favourite among audiophiles and casual-listeners alike. Usually, after you’ve purchased your speakers, a separate amplifier, cables to route power to all of these and then found space for them, you’re looking at a hefty bill. On top of that already hefty bill, you find you’re also looking at a full-scale home or office renovation if you want to get your ceiling speakers and an amplifier installed elegantly. If you choose Lithe Audio ceiling speakers, installation is as easy as a four-step process, requiring only the simplest of DIY tools to perform and that’s for the following reasons: Each speaker has a built-in amplifier, saving you the cost of purchasing a separate amp, as well as solving the problem of where to put it. Happily, these ceiling speakers can be powered directly from the lighting circuit via a dedicated 3A fused spur.

Use a stud finder, if necessary, to ensure your elected position for your new ceiling speaker is suitably free of pipes, cables and other obstructions. The kevlar woofer and titanium tweeter are clues to the premium build quality and attention to detail present throughout each of these carefully designed speakers.

Airplay 2 compatibility makes the WiFi speakers as easy to use as Bluetooth units after installation: just connect and play. You can have your music playing through your Apple TV, MacBook, HomePod and Lithe Audio ceiling speakers all simultaneously for the ultimate home-party experience. 10 Things You Need to Know About Ceiling Speakers Before You Install

Ceiling speakers are designed to be a permanent audio solution that will provide you with excellent, aesthetically-pleasing sound for many years to come. That’s why it’s critical you’ve chosen the right quality of speaker as well as thought about how they will be installed. And if you’re ready to get started with your project, we do offer a free design service so we can ensure your budget goes as far as possible. However, note that all ceiling speakers connected to the same Sonos Amp will play the same music at the same volume.

It is best to position the ceiling speakers at equal distance apart from each wall, along the length of the room and at least 2 metres away from each other for the best stereo separation effect. We understand some customers may have awkwardly shaped room layouts, which can make it hard to know where the best place to position them would be.

In this scenario, it may be worth choosing a ceiling speaker with an angleable tweeter to direct the sound to the rooms most habitable areas. This is achieved by wiring each ceiling speaker up to the binding posts on the Amp. Or read our review of the Lithe Audio bluetooth ceiling speaker.

We can supply this cable in reels of 50 metres with free next day delivery if you need it quickly.

The audio signal can degenerate if it travels too far affecting the sound quality. That means you can keep your upstairs neighbours happier for longer if you turn the volume up!

Please check with your builder/installer whether a fire hood is required for your ceiling speakers in your particular building. Can ceiling speakers be installed in high-humidity environments such as a kitchen or bathroom? Most of the ceiling speakers we supply are steam and humidity resistant which means, as long as they do not get wet, are excellent in a bathroom and kitchen environment. Or, if you want to have the peace of mind of having a fully waterproof ceiling speaker that can be installed inside a shower enclosure or above the bath tub, the Monitor Audio AWC265-T2 is perfect in this environment.

The very least amount of mounting depth you’ll need is 36mm otherwise ceiling speakers won’t be feasible in your property. Simply plug in your device to your desired room you’d like the ability to voice to control your system, help Alexa or Google Assistant to discover your Sonos devices in the Sonos app and follow the on-screen set up to get started. If you’re in the middle of a ceiling speaker project or considering one in the future, we’d love to help! Do In-Ceiling Speakers Need Power?

In-ceiling speakers require a more involved setup, forcing you to determine which and how many wires you’ll be using ahead of time. In-ceiling or in-wall speakers (our sizing guide) are mounted inside a wall or ceiling. If you’re ready to commit to a speaker system wired throughout your house, you’ll need to lock in whether they’re going to be active or passive early on, so that you can effectively plan cable runs. There is a little more to this story that’s worth going into: a passive speaker needs a powered signal from an amplifier at a minimum, but often the receiver has an amp within it, which is why you’ll see the terms used almost interchangeable.

Units like the Polk Audio RC60i 2-way Premium In-Ceiling Speakers (on Amazon) can be used to pepper your whole space with sound in an unobtrusive way. They give you lots of flexibility with your system and how you choose to expand it, and are not too expensive when compared to active speakers. Multiple amplifiers and receivers might be connected wirelessly, but that is introducing a new problem and project into the situation. This is the main disadvantage of passive speakers: the need to run wire back to the audio source.

But, if you’re only planning to put up (for instance) 2 ceiling speakers above a Television that only need to have wire run to a local receiver, then this wiring problem doesn’t cause more work than an active-speaker setup would, which is good news if you’re considering the addition of a subwoofer alongside your ceiling speakers (our guide). The Pyle Ceiling and Wall Mount Speaker (on Amazon) can actually accept an active or passive connection. Most commonly, active speakers will be larger, louder, and more expensive as they require their own power source. There’s no need to worry about buying the correct receiver for optimal performance, as the active speaker already has that figured out.

While some brands offer their own dedicated apps for managing sound over wifi, leveraging the advantage of not needing speaker wires going everywhere, there is no “top dog” that makes the process seemless.
