VASTKING KingPad K10 Review
Tech Specs: This is a 10-inch Android 10 Tablet with an Octa-Core T610 (1.8GHz) CPU and 3GB RAM with a 12mm chipset, 32GB storage (upgradeable to 512GB with external microSD) and a 1920 x 1200 HD resolution. It also comes equipped with a 13MP rear camera (with flashlight) and a 5MB front camera, Blue Light Filter Screen, Facial Recognition, Dual Speakers, 20 Days Stand-By time with the 6000mAh Battery Capacity, 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz WIFI, Bluetooth, Offline Google Map and weighs 550g without the keyboard. Like its predecessor, the build quality of this VASTKING KingPad K10 device is really good – it has a nice ‘premium’ feel to it, with its metal backing.
There’s nothing on the right side, but underneath you’ll find the Dual Stereo speakers with the 5-Pin docking port sitting nicely in the middle.
I was up and running within minutes of first turning the device on and was happily downloading my favourite Apps from the Google store – connection to my WIFI worked without any hiccups. Watching movies on this K10 was a nice experience – both Netflix and Amazon Prime performed really well with no lagging and the picture quality and colours were superb – same for YouTube.
Budget tablets are normally purchased as a ‘spare’, or something for the kids etc, but this device, especially with the keyboard attached, can be used on a daily basis for all your office and work needs. Camera quality is ok for a tablet at this level, especially when used in brighter environments to reduce ‘noise’ in the image, but you won’t have to sell your DSLR just yet… It’s perfect for video calls and they serve their purpose.
The edge (or lip) of the case extends beyond the tablet all round by a few mm, giving it that extra layer of protection. Being a designer and illustrator myself, I was unable to test the true drawing capabilities of this device as the VASTKING pen wasn’t supplied with the review unit (it apparently is pressure sensitive AND has palm rejection technology built in, so seems pretty cool! They are a fairly recent player* AFAIK in the already crowded tablet market, but if they keep producing these goodies at a budget price, they’ll soon become a lot more well-known – nice job!
Vastking KingPad K10 10″ Android 10 Tablet
We have spent the last week diving into the new KingPad K10 10″ Android 10 Tablet by Vastking. It had some pretty big shoes to fill since the previous model won us over so well, so it came with certain expectations waiting for it.
Touching on just enough enhancements to maintain the previous score and avoiding the “yes, but what’s new?” bubble that some of these affordable options can sometimes get stuck with. This time, reminding us of the rounded edges from options like the Samsung Galaxy series.
Although it does feel pretty good in your hands, it actually comes in at 0.1 oz heavier than the SA10 (1lb 2.7oz). It features the same drawer-style micro SD card slot that many tablets and phones make use of. It is located on the top side of the tablet, along with a 3.5mm aux port for headphones. Sadly, we didn’t have a spare 512GB card laying around to test out this round so that remains untested for now.
Just like their previous model, the volume can get pretty loud on this tablet if you crank it up. Also on the left side is the USB-C port for both charging and data transfer. The bottom side of the tablet contains dual speakers, which is an improvement from their previous model. Now, the speakers will be at the bottom and well-spread out, making them perfect for watching video content in landscape orientation.
When living up to a previous model that did so well, something has to take the next step in enough spec areas in order to maintain the impression as well as the score. However, once you swap it out with a proper high-res image, you’ll be able to relax and know that this isn’t due to the screen itself. However, once you start loading a few dozen apps to them, they can sometimes slow to a molasses-like experience.
Then start installing or restoring (if coming from another Android model) apps to the tablet.
WiFi support includes both 2.4GHz and 5GHz, allowing the tablet to take advantage of the 5GHz bandwidth for streaming when available. Since this is an affordable model, you aren’t going to find mind-blowing cameras and lens options. This model contains a 6000mAH battery inside which seems to be more than enough to provide you with hours of entertainment, as well as the use of the optional keyboard (since the keyboard/cover takes power directly from the tablet itself). Of course, all of these promised specs are going to be based on perfect scenarios (ie, not cranking the brightness all the way up, balancing the audio, using power management techniques, etc).
When it comes to the quality of the screen, hardware performance, and battery life, we really found ourselves quite enjoying the Kingpad K10 tablet.
Vastking did a great job of tweaking various specs to modernize this model and make it highly competitive with everything else out there in the market, leaving a good impression on us once again. The optional keyboard cover fits nicely with the tablet and is highly recommended by us.
