Ecocarbon Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker Review

On the back panel, a screw-shut cover keeps the connection points watertight—you’ll need to make sure this is properly locked before throwing the speaker in the pool. On tracks with powerful sub-bass, like The Knife’s “Silent Shout,” the EcoCarbon delivers laudable bass response.

For the most part, the drivers can’t quite recreate the deepest lows this track conjures, and that is how distortion is avoided.

Bill Callahan’s “Drover,” a track with far less deep bass in the mix, is a better gauge of the EcoCarbon’s overall sound signature.

Instead, we hear far less of the lower frequency presence the drums could potentially offer, and the same is more or less true of Callahan’s baritone vocals. On Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “No Church in the Wild,” the kick drum loop has plenty of high-mid presence, giving its attack a notably sharp, piercing edge that slices through the layers of the mix. The sub-bass synth hits that punctuate the beat sound fairly powerful, too, but you are really hearing more of their raspy top notes than anything approaching subwoofer territory. But the audio is quite strong for the price, and when you combine that with a truly waterproof build, you’ve got a shoo-in for our Editors’ Choice award.

EcoXGear Eco Carbon Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker – Review

It can sometimes feel as if manufacturers are piling features onto their products that bear little relation to each other, such as a coffee cup with a tape measure attachment, or a trash can with temperature display. So when we heard about the new Eco Carbon speaker from EcoXGear, I couldn’t help thinking it might be in the same category: Who really needs a speaker that’s waterproof down to 6.6 ft, floats, charges mobile devices, is Bluetooth connectable, has a flashlight, operates as a handsfree speakerphone with a built-in microphone, has rugged construction and a universal mounting point? Along with its rubberized finish, stainless steel grilles and sturdy handle, the Eco Carbon is one less thing to worry about when traveling.

Unscrew the waterproof cover to access the connection ports and you can use that battery to recharge a phone if you’re off-grid for the night.

Whether camping or adventure riding, the Eco Carbon Bluetooth speaker is a great companion that will quickly become an indispensible part of your kit. While I wouldn’t want to do this while riding, it does give the adventure rider yet another way to integrate the Eco Carbon into their travel gear.

The speaker is available in the attractive orange you see here (my choice for easy visibility when packing in a hurry), as well as all-black, blue and even a camo finish. but unlike the confusing array of speakers out there, I’ve actually listened to this unit over a prolonged period and enjoyed its crisp sound with surprising bass quality thanks to a pair of 8W loudspeakers housed within its casing.

On sound alone, I would recommend the EcoXGear Eco Carbon Waterproof Bluetooth Speaker, but all the added features make it a great choice for anybody pursuing an active lifestyle.

EcoCarbon Bluetooth Speaker – Tech Review

For those of us that live life a little harder than most, we need something tough that will survive the adventure, and for the past month we brought the EcoXGear EcoCarbon Bluetooth Speaker along for the ride. What makes this particular speaker stand out though, is the fact that it is built waterproof, shockproof, and dustproof, and ready withstand earth’s elements no matter where it goes. Submersible up to 6.6 feet, and capable of flotation, the very slim possibility that this speaker might be permanently damaged put us at ease very quickly.

Not only does the EcoCarbon Bluetooth Speaker stand up to the stresses of nature, as an extra added bonus EccoXGear has built in a clip and a 1/4″ universal screw mount, so it is capable of being secured to other objects. After the first connection to our mobile device, turning on the power to the EcoCarbon is all it takes for the Bluetooth feature to automatically pair. With the good generally comes the bad, and in the case of the EcoCarbon Bluetooth Speaker, it’s rugged design and proofing from the elements seem to created some minor issues with the acoustics it is capable of producing. We’ve never experienced and tinny white noise or breaks in the sound, even after the speaker was entirely submerged in water. On top of that, this speaker can be used as a power bank, capable of recharging other devices in the event you are away from the usual charging stations.

While the availability of these features can be very helpful along the way, we have found it very easy to push the EcoCarbon Speaker past its limitations, and find the battery drained by morning. While regular home use and quick outings are no problem, if you do intend to rely upon this speaker for a power source on full weekend excursions, you may find it unable to make the distance.

Waterproof and shockproof, we’ve dunked this speaker, tossed it down a few flights of stairs, left it in a snowbank for hours, and it continues to work the same as the day we un-boxed it. We have noticed a very small amount of wear to the rubber exterior after very harsh use, but otherwise, this speaker appears as though it will stand the test of time.

With a variety of features beyond what is available in a conventional Bluetooth speaker, and more than likely a much longer lifespan, we have no problem whatsoever recommending this as a good purchase.

ECOXGEAR EcoCarbon Review

Translation: while this may not be the top portable Bluetooth speaker for rap and heavy R&B, the overall sound quality is more full, balanced, and better suited for a broader range of music. The EcoCarbon delivers great volume in a relatively small package, registering a maximum of 92db at close range in our sound tests. Constructed from thick, rubberized high-density plastics and a metal speaker grill, the EcoCarbon is highly shock and impact resistant. This means that the speaker can play louder using less power, but overall playtime can be impacted significantly if a smartphone or similar device is charged during playback.
